Steganography on Digital Image Using Pixel Values Differencing (pvd) Method

Internet as a communication media brings easiness, speed, and lower costs, but this media couldn’t give any safety guarantee. That’s why the data should be protected from unauthorized people. Steganograhpy technique could be used to do the protection. This technique inserts data or information into object cover, which is digital image. The succes criteria of steganography implementation is when the data inserted can’t be seen by human and the carrier image doesn’t decrease in quality. In this research, we’ll use Pixel Values Differencing (PVD) method and perform two schemes: block overlapping and block nonoverlapping. Measurement of performance is described as the data capacity which can be inserted by using those two schemes. The result of the measurements shows that data insertion into a carrier images with RGB (red, green, blue) color model produces more capacity than the one with grayscale color model. Block division in the carrier image on non-overlap scheme gives better quality than the one divided on overlap scheme, but the data capacity hidden by the former is more than the latter scheme.
